The aim of Acupuncture is to help restore the body’s energy balance and vitality, it achieves this by working on stimulating specific areas of the body, bringing it into better alignment. Acupuncture is a treatment derived from ancient Chinese medicine. Fine needles are inserted at certain sites in the body for therapeutic or preventative purposes.

Your Initial Consultation

During your initial consultation, you will be asked questions about your general health and the issues you would like to have addressed.

This involves asking questions about your current symptoms and your medical history, as well as such things as your sleeping pattern, your appetite and digestion, and your emotional wellbeing. Women are also asked about their menstrual cycle and any past pregnancies and childbirth.

You might feel that some questions appear unrelated to your condition but the information you give helps your practitioner to form a complete picture of your health and lifestyle. Your practitioner will take your pulse on both wrists, examine your tongue and may feel for areas of muscular tension or pain. Your practitioner will then select suitable acupuncture points for your treatment.

Relax & Enjoy Your Treatment

You then can completely relax whilst the treatment is underway. This is when most patients fall asleep and say they feel refreshed when they wake up. Depending on the outcome of your treatment, follow up appointments may be required, this can be discussed with your practitioner.

Acupuncture is currently available at Littlehampton Natural Health Centre on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
