Humanistic Counselling at Littlehampton
Counselling in Littlehampton
Dan works from a Humanistic and Existential perspective. This means he will not label you, or reduce you to a set of symptoms. Consequently, you will be viewed as a unique individual, a whole person, mind, body and spirit. Human beings have the ability and wisdom to understand and resolve their own inner conflicts, given the right conditions.

Aims

Humanistic counselling aims to provide those conditions and puts an emphasis on...

  • growth
  • personal responsibility
  • choice
  • and freedom

Rather than telling you what is wrong and what you need to do, you will explore your world together, shining a light on, and drawing on your experiences. As a result, people will often experience great relief, a new sense of self and a change in perspective. This can bring new insight and greater awareness. The process can help you make sense and meaning out of whatever has brought you to counselling.

Furthermore, Humanistic counselling puts an emphasis on the relationship between counsellor and client, and aims to develop a democratic and respectful partnership. Your counsellor will listen to what it is you want to get out of your time together and will work with you to achieve this.

Outcomes

People often achieve the following through counselling...

  • more effective coping and adjustment skills
  • the pursuit of personal or interpersonal development and growth
  • or simply exploration of ideas of an existential or spiritual nature

Above all, Dan can work with you in a safe, respectful and creative way, tailored to your unique individuality.
