About Indian Head Massage
The ancient art of head massage originated in India over 1000 years ago. "Also known as champissage" it is a massage for the scalp, face, neck and shoulders. It was traditionally used by Indian women as a beauty treatment, to keep their hair healthy and lustrous. Indian head massage has other benefits. It can massage away stress, reduce nervous tention, relieve conditions such as eye strain, tiredness, insomnia and sinusitis. It can soothe muscular tension and stiffness in the shoulders, encourage better hair growth by stimulating and increasing circulation to the sculp, and aids in the elimination of accumulated toxins and waste products. This massage therapy is fast becoming very popular in England. The therapist uses a range of different massage pressures and rhythms to manipulate the soft tissues. Effective treatments can be administered almost anywhere, requiring only a chair for the client to sit on. A treatment lasts about 30 minutes, providing immediate and beneficial results. As well as feeling very relaxed, clients experience a profound sense of tranquillity and balance as the treament works on the body's chakras or energy centres.
