ABOUT HAND REFLEXOLOGY
Hand Reflexology has been in existence for as long as foot Reflexology. Ancient Egyptians papyrus' depict medical practitioners treating the hands and feet of their patients in 2500 BC. The Egyptians contributed greatly to the development of science and medicine. The doctors were the first physicians to study the human body scientifically, and they were famous for this. Further evidence that the medical profession was held in great esteem can be seen in the tomb of Ankhmahor - a physician, who was the most influential official, second only to the King, is in his tomb at Saqqara practising Reflexology. Today, most Reflexologists prefer to work only on the feet and will work on the hands as a last resort. It is a well-proven fact that a hand treatment can be a beneficial and as relaxing as a foot treatment. It is usual to find that the hand reflexes are not as sensitive as those areas on the feet. This is possibly so because hands are constantly in use, whereas the feet are protected by the wearing of socks, stockings and shoes. Hands are also less tender, so the chances of finding any crystal deposits are minimal. Some practitioners start with Foot Reflexology for an initial period and if they feel they have reached a plateau where no improvement is being made will swap to hand treatments to move the healing process on. It is well documented that Hand Reflexology can be given as an effective alternative to treating the feet.
